Dorothy J. Potvin, 93, of Fairmont, MN

Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy J. Potvin, 93, of Fairmont, MN will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont with Father Peter Schuster officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Fairmont. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 at the church on Monday. Dorothy passed away Thursday morning, March 1, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is in charge of the arrangements for the family.

Dorothy Janet (Fisch) Potvin was born on June 25, 1918 in Windom, MN, the daughter of Adrian and Hazel (Hanson) Fisch. She went to school in Fairmont and graduated from the Fairmont High School and went on to the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul. She was united in marriage to Richard Potvin on August 7, 1942 in Corpus Christi, TX, while Richard was in the Armed Services. They raised their family in Fairmont and after Richard’s retirement they wintered in Mesa, AZ. Richard passed away on January 20, 2002. Dorothy was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and the women’s circle. She was also a member of Interlaken Golf Club and enjoyed bridge club. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Hamilton and her husband, Tom, of Council Bluffs, IA, Suzanne Ring and her husband, Steven, of Eden Prairie, MN; 5 grandchildren, Scott Hamilton (Vanessa), Tim Hamilton (Teresa), John Ring (Jeanne), Sarah Ring and Megan Ring; 10 great grandchildren, Jordan, Brayden, Lillian, Taylor, Aaron, Caden, Peyton, Kamryn, Sophia and Raina; sister-in-law, Eileen Fisch of Fairmont; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was also preceded in death by one sister, Joan Jones, two brothers, Mike and David Fisch. Memorials are preferred to the St. John Vianney School Endowment.
