Mary T. Kronebusch, 88, of rural Altura, Minn., died Jan. 2, 2006, after a short illness at Community Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 2, 1917, in Independence, Wis., to Thomas and Lucy Mish. She moved to Winona in early adulthood, which is when she met and married her husband, Cyril Kronebusch. The couple moved to his familyÙus farm on Oak Ridge, where they started their family.

She loved parenting her two children and living life in the country. She especially enjoyed gardening, bird watching, socializing with her friends and neighbors, and occasional trips to the casino. Her artistic talents were expressed through oil painting, rug hooking and braiding, and flower arranging. Her artwork earned her several awards, and her pieces are displayed in homes and businesses across the country.

Mary was a kind, loving and generous woman who enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family remembers her fresh-baked homemade bread, apple pie, pickles and famous elderberry jam.

Mary is survived by her husband, Cyril of Winona; two children, Wayne ‎(Margaret)‎ Kronebusch of Rollingstone and Diane ‎(Stephen)‎ Pitzen of Adams, Minn.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Conrad of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ferdinand; and a sister, Martha.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Rollingstone, Minn. The Rev. Donald J. Lovas will officiate. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery at Oak Ridge.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
