James born in Medford Mass. 5 Oct, 1707 m. Lydia Fisk in lexington dau of Deacon Jonathan and Abigail Reed Fisk(See Bond p209 and Barrys History of Framingham p356
He was a blacksmith in Sudbury where he resided till 1763. He died in Prilnceton Sept, 1776 at 66 yrs old. Barry in his History of Framingkhem Mass"says his father is said to have been "James(1)but that is the only evidences which I find to prove that he was the son of James, while on the contray much can be found to show that he was not the son of James, but was the son Ansrew. James(2) had a son James(3) but in 1739 he is discribed as a Laborer of Gorton. while James(2) was a blacksmith of Sudbury. James (3)of Sudbury deeded to Joseph (3) of Watertown 6 Feb 1734\5. "All the right he mighthave in his grandfathers right in the lands granted to lthe narragansett soliders, his grandfather being one of the grantees. Now as his grandfather did not will any such right to him, the only in which he could become possessed of it was through his father, and he could have no such right until after the decease of his father and James (2) of Gorton was certainly living till after 6 Nov 1735 nine mos. after the date of the deed made by James(3)and he prob did not die till the later part of 1737, which facts led me to believe that James(#) could not have been the son of James (2) ,Also shown in the IGI file of Mass) while in proof that he was son of Andrew(2) I find the followin facts.
HIs descendents have a tradition that Andrew(4_died or was lost at sea whille no other branch of the familyk had any traditionary knowledge kof Andrew at all. and the desc. of James(2).Now each family would naturally be much more likely to retain such traditionary knowledge of their than of a brother of thier ancstor, again, there ils no record to show that Elizabeth Patterson of Reading, did in any way during her life time convey the title to the propeity which in 1725 she bought of Thomas Hodgerman, but 7 April 1757 James (3) of Sudbury sold a part of this same property and 24 July 1758 theremainder of it while there is no record of any conveny tohim in any way of the property, so that he muct have inherited ift from Elizabeth Patterson of Reading and that fact that he disposed of it without reference to any other heir would show that he was sole heir and that if he had ever had any borther or sisters, neither they not their representatives were living in 1757James born in Medford Mass. 5 Oct, 1707 m.
