Visitation with the family present is 5-7 PM Friday, April 5, 2019 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls. A Liturgical Wake Service will begin at 7 PM on Friday at the funeral home. George Stuart Jacobson was born on March 18, 1940 in St. Paul, MN to Gerald and Ada (Gilbertson) Jacobson. George attended school in Freeborn, MN and graduated from Osage High School. He attended Waldorf University for one year and they kicked him out for rebelling and going to a Buddy Holly concert, which was Buddy Holly's final concert before he died in a plane crash that same night of the concert. George was glad he was able to attend the final Buddy Holly concert. Following his dismissal from Waldorf University, George hitchhiked to Anaheim, CA and worked at the post office. He eventually moved to Wells, MN and joined the United States Army in April 1963 and served his country honorably until his discharge in April 1965. His first date with Carol Stenzel was on July 19, 1962 and they married on September 25, 1965 in Wells, MN. They later moved to Charles City, Iowa for the next 14 years. He worked at White Farm Equipment while he was attending school and after graduation, he accepted a position at Sara Lee. In 1979 they moved to Cacamongo, CA and was recruited by Miller Brewing as their Maintenance Supervisor and helped open the new plant. Later moved to Golden State Foods for ten years until 1994 when George began experiencing a series of mini strokes that left his feeling dizzy most of the time and leaving him unable to work. Inspired by his close friend, Fr. Bernie Grady, George took up woodworking and completed some ornate and beautiful projects. George loved writing poetry and short stories, even having one story illustrated by his great-niece and turned into a book.
